Tried | THE FACE SHOP Baby Face Wash-Off Pore Pack

Friday 15 November 2013
Hello, lovelies! How's your week so far? For me today things are a bit slow and currently I'm stuck with a block in my creative brain. I need to distract myself for a bit.

Anyway, I decided to try this sample today. It's from THE FACE  SHOP and I got like 10 of these, equivalent to almost half of full-size product!

Looking at Hyun Joong oppa, ~melting away~ LOL

Allows mask to remain on skin for an additional 10 to 15 minutes.
Then rinse off with lukewarm water.
Apply once or twice a week after tone.

Net capacity: 110ml

Packaging:

Well, I got only samples with me, but like you guys can see above, it has the same hue as the full-size product, only this one in matte colour. Same illustration even.

This gives me a clean, simple and minimalist look and I totally dig that. I do love princess look on certain items but not on my skincare. I would prefer the brand to focus more on ingredient, not on packaging.

Texture:

It's quite thick white well, more like ivory actually, clay paste-like. It definitely not runny. As I applied it on my skin, it felt so smooth, and I just love it. One packet of sample has 5ml of product in it, it is definitely can be used for two times but as this review is more on first expression of this product, I just spread it luxuriously on my skin an applied the whole packet!

Scent:
To me it smells like clay-ish I guess. It does smell like my Etude House Wonder Pore Clay Clear mask actually. It's nice, not really that strong, it lingers as I leave it on my skin for about 20 minutes.

Verdict:

I applied the whole 5ml of product and ended up with a thick layer of mask! hehe

Did you guys noticed the slightly brightening? Note that I only added the watermarks there. Pardon the different distance when I took those photos. I can see that my pores are smaller compared to before.

Overall, it does give me a little bit of what it claims. But again, this is first impression of the product. Texture-wise, I love it. It doesn't break me out, helps me in controlling my sebum, moisturizes my skin, I feel my skin really soft and supple right after using this. Maybe it's not that much, so we'll see the result after a prolong use of the product.

A 5-Free product! Definitely adds one star! Stated in the ingredient list, this wash-off mask contains Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract.

I found an article about the aforementioned ingredient.

With its distinct flavor, the powerful taste of grapefruit is not for everyone. But with its high nutritional content and refreshing scent, more and more people are touting the ingredient as a skin-care secret. But what is it about the fruit that benefits the skin?

Rich in antioxidants and vitamins, grapefruit extract applied topically can provide an array of anti-aging benefits like evening skin tone and fighting off free radicals. When eaten, it provides the body with important nutrients essential for healthy skin.

“Internally, grapefruit is a great example of a fruit that is loaded with skin-protective antioxidants and also has a high water content, which helps keep your skin’s barrier (the outer layer) hydrated and more resistant to wrinkle-causing free-radical damage from the sun and daily pollution,” says Los Angeles dermatologist, Howard Murad, MD. “A great benefit of grapefruit is that it promotes the production of collagen, thus making the skin more plump and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, keeping the skin looking younger and more supple.”

“Grapefruit has excellent astringent and exfoliating properties that are perfect for oily or acne-prone skin,” says Washington, DC, dermatologist Elizabeth Tanzi, MD. “It also increases the pH of the skin, which may reduce acne,” adds Dr. Murad. But when it comes to those suffering from rosacea, citrus may not be the answer. “Certain citrusy fruits such as grapefruit may irritate the condition. It’s important to identify the foods that affect you by tracking what you eat and evaluate how your skin reacts during the few hours after consumption,” says Dr. Murad.

Be careful using and eating grapefruit if you take prescription medication. There are several drugs that can have life-threatening consequences when combined with even the smallest hint of grapefruit.

Final verdict: 5/5. I would recommend if you want to try another clay-based mask because I am looking for another option other than my Etude House Wonder Pore Clay Clear right now, so I'm going to finish my samples and include this on my next TFS haul. As this is a clay-based product, I wouldn't recommend to those with dry skin. But again, this product does moisturising so maybe instead of once to two times, just use only once a week. Just to be safe, if you do want to try, just get a sample first and see if it suits your skin. If it's drying you out, leaving you a tight squeaky clean feeling, then this is definitely a no-no for you.

So what do you guys think? Does this product worth the buy? Have you tried it? Do you have any recommendation on similar product?

Until next post, au revoir!
