Unlike cleansing waters, milks, creams, balms and even oils, I hardly venture into trying different eye makeup removers because I don't use them as frequent as I need to; I'd rather use a single product to remove all of my makeup that I have been wearing throughout the day at one go when I shower.
However, there are times when I don't want to get into the shower (where I line all my oil-based cleansers on my bathroom shelf) right away but desperately want to at least remove my waterproof eye makeup. This is where having a separate eye makeup remover can actually be helpful. Before I go in-depth into this product, let's get into some basic information first.
What you need to know!
It's a gentle yet powerful water-based eye makeup remover.
- For eyes and lips
- Dual effect of water layers containing lotion-based cleansing ingredients and oil-based emollient layers effectively lift and remove waterproof mascara and eyeliner effortlessly without rubbing and tugging.
- Contains vitamin B and E derivatives for added skin nutrients
- Contains 2 types of moisturising ingredients which moisturize and is gentle to your delicate eye areas and eyelashes.
- Colourant-free, fragrance-free, paraben-free, hypoallergenic formulation
- Skin patch and allergy tested.
- Contains Alkanediol (Pentylene Glycol) as moisturising agent.
- Shake well before use
- Dispense some suitable amount of product onto cotton pad and wipe gently. Rubbing is not required as product works by lifting makeup rather than melting it away.
- To remove stubborn mascara, hold cotton pad against eye for awhile before gently wiping off
- Remove contact lenses before use.
Capacity: 145ml - about 4 months of daily use with cotton pads.
Ingredients list: Water, Mineral Oil, Cyclopentasiloxane, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Alcohol, PEG-400, PCA Ethyl Cocoyl Arginate, Disodium EDTA, Pentylene Glycol, Panthenol, Tocopheryl Acetate, PEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hyaluronate
PACKAGING
Basically, the product comes with a plastic cover to seal the whole product and there are only Japanese product descriptions printed on the actual bottle. The Manufacturing Date is printed at the bottom of the bottle itself and the format is MFGDDMMYY (Day-Month-Year).
The product doesn't come with a pump or anything; just regular screw cap with a simple stopper at the neck of the bottle.
As you can see, the product is a dual-phase makeup remover so it is imperative for you to shake the bottle to mix the oil and water parts of the product so you can remove all kinds of makeup you have on.
APPLICATION
I'm going to attempt to remove some waterproof makeup products that I have and here are some that I've been obsessing a lot lately; Benefit Cosmetics They're Real Mascara, NYX Lingerie Eye Tint, Shu Uemura Matte Supreme Matte and Benefit Cosmetics Benetint Cheek and Lip Stain as I'm all about long-wearing makeup these days.
I have swatched all the products at the back of my hand to show you how well this eye and lip makeup remover work!
I've dispensed some of the product directly onto the textured cotton pad, usually 3 to 4 drops and just let it sit on the products (on my eyelids) for a good 10 seconds.
Then, slowly wipe the pad away from the eyelid. As this makeup remover is quite watery, be careful not to let the product go into your eyes.
THOUGHTS
As you can see in the above photo, the only makeup item that were not completely removed are the eye, cheek and lip tints with their colours still visible on skin but as for the rest of the makeup, not even the slightest hint can be seen so I do think this oil cleanser does its job quite well. I bet most of you know that the products that aren't removed are quite known for their long-lastingness which is why I would rather to simply use cleansing oils to remove them altogether.
Overall, I give this product 4/5. I still do like this eye and lip makeup remover even after trying several other removers mostly from Korean brands as this product basically removes all traces of other eye makeup that I have.
When I'm not using base makeup, there is no need to use cleansing oil but I still need to remove waterproof eye makeup. For that I will use cleansing wipes or sheets to remove my sunscreen for the day and pour several drops of this remover onto the sheet and simply wipe away my mascara, eyeliner, and even brow mousse.
This makeup remover does not irritate, make my eyes blur or anything. Also I found that a little goes a long way with this product making it considerably affordable with the amount of product I get. I've recently finished my first bottle and now I'm on my second one with the newer packaging design.
You might have noticed that this product (as with most Japanese skincare products available in drugstores) contains mineral oil. This may deter some from getting it but I personally don't have any issues with that ingredient as I'm actually more concerned with fragrance that may potentially irritate the skin.
I guess that's all from me and I hope this review helps you in some way but do let me know if you have any thought by leaving comments down below. Annyeong~
