Review | Etude House Face Conditioning Cream SPF25/PA++

Tuesday 15 March 2016
As I learn about makeup, it's quite interesting to know that behind all those flawless foundation coverage, there are some products known to help with that other than your brush technique, or mostly just high-end foundation.

The product in this category are known as base which works as your "foundation" to your foundation. It's sometimes the same as primers but most of the time it's a multi-tasking product that's taking care of your skin issues such as uneven skin tone, redness, dullness, etc.

As I feel like my skin is a bit dull and uneven recently, I went on a research of what kind of base available in the Korean market and then I realized that I actually have not one but three base products in my beauty stash and all of them are from Etude House.

Product Description:
This is a quick and easy makeup boosting cream that smoothly conditions skin with its light and soft texture for a makeup-ready complexion.

How to Use: After applying toner, spread a certain amount of Face Conditioning Cream evenly onto face.

Ingredients:
WATER, ETHYLHEXYL METHOXYCINNAMATE, HYDROGENATED POLYISOBUTENE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, PHENYL TRIMETHICONE, GLYCERIN, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, ARBUTIN, GLYCERYL STEARATE, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891), CETYL ALCOHOL, CYCLOHEXASILOXANE, METHOXY PEG-114/POLYEPSILON CAPROLACTONE, PEG-100 STEARATE, COCOS NUCIFERA (COCONUT) OIL, OLEA EUROPAEA (OLIVE) FRUIT OIL, ARGANIA SPINOSA KERNEL OIL, SODIUM HYALURONATE, SILICA, LIPASE, CHITOSAN, POLYPROPYLSILSESQUIOXANE, POLYACRYLATE-13, POLYISOBUTENE, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, ALCOHOL, POLYSORBATE 80, XANTHAN GUM, DISODIUM EDTA, ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE, ADENOSINE, POLYSORBATE 20, HYDROGENATED LECITHIN, TRIETHOXYCAPRYLYLSILANE, PHENOXYETHANOL, FRAGRANCE.

Packaging:

The product comes in a box coloured in pearl white with metallic sheen on it. With a mirror illustrated at the centre of the box for the label, it suggests a princess-y feeling to it.

There's English description at the back of the box and it's pointed there that the product can be used up to 12 months after opened.

The tube that the product comes in is pretty much in similar design with the box though the label at the back of the tube is written in Korean.

The manufacturing date was embossed at the tip of the tube so do check that before purchase. The tube comes with a pretty silver cap and the opening of the tube is sealed before open. A feature that I highly appreciated.

Application:

As you can see from the above photos, the product is that white creamy liquid and seems to me only the sheen of the white cream remained on the spread of the product. Really need to be careful on the amount of product application as I do believe that the sheen can be seen in photos as a white cast which is something that I hardly like.

Left: Bare skin. Right: After I applied the product.

Topped off with cushion foundation.

Verdict:

After a number of applications using different cushion foundation, I seemed to notice that this is definitely not for people with oily skin as the product doesn't seem to work well with my mostly sebum or oil-controlling cushion foundations. My foundation started to slide (T-zone area) like after few hours so that's just not something I want.

However, on my dry (U-zone) area, I found that this product actually holds my foundation well so I guess this product is more suitable for those with dry skin.

As you see in the photos, it does give a slight tone-up effect so if you're looking for a base that can bright up your skin tone, do give this a try.

The purpose of this product is to make your skin (or most makeup artists would say, the canvas) is ready for makeup so to me the performance of this product though not perfect, it's still good for a roadshop brand i.e. Etude House.

Final verdict: 3/5. Mostly because of this product isn't meant completely for me as I definitely gonna use it for my U-zone. Hence, I'm looking forward to try the Light version next.

The product retails at RM79.90 here at local Etude House store in Malaysia and for merely KRW12,000 (~RM45) in South Korea. You can get this from official Etude House website here. (Non-affiliate link).

Alright, that's all from me! Hope you find this review helpful (or not?) so do leave your comments and let me know what do you think of this product.

Until next post, annyeong~
