Review | NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams in Stockholm, Istanbul, Zurich and Athens

Monday 10 November 2014
Hello, lovely people! I'm back with another lipsticks review! :D I know.. I know.. don't judge me!!

Well, I'm pretty sure you've heard of this lip products line from NYX. These are basically sold out most of the time in Sephora so I'm pretty sure lots of girls are high on these right now.

As I was really excited to get these babies unwrapped and I just can't wait to try them on lips as I only swatched them on my arms at Sephora, today I'm going to share with you guys out there, whether you too (if you haven't), should get these as well as I did.

To start with, I got myself 4 Soft Matte Lip Creams which are Stockholm, Istanbul. Zurich and Athens.

Some basic info, these are made in People Republic of China. Cruelty free!
Use within 18 months after opened.

I also noticed that while I was buying these at Sephora, some were wrapped in plastic while others are not. Some girls mentioned that the wrapped ones are the new batches, though I got nothing to prove that statement. If you know, do let me know.

The bottom part of the lip creams. Again, though not pictured here, the assumed new batches are also labeled on the top, on its cap but only with product code e.g. SMLC 14.

Those stickers are the proof that I bought these from Sephora Malaysia. You can definitely get these from independence resellers in Instagram at much cheaper price compared.

The lip creams came with doe foot applicators. Makes it very easy to apply, though for me, I'm still struggling getting it inside my lip lines.

Above are the swatches with indoor lighting.

With flash! Love the low intensity of the glossy texture.

Swatches:

First swatch, Stockholm. I have to admit, this one is my favourite! The first one I tried as well. The nude colour looks kinda nice with my skin tone. That's why I love it. Thanks to +tarapapapapa ! She's the one that make me hooked!

Next one is Istanbul. This one is obviously not for my warm skin tone. So I think I need to find a way for the colour to work on my lips. Maybe gonna do a mix up with other colours. The pigmentation seems alright though to get the above pigmentation, I have to apply like 3 times. Hmm.

Next one is Zurich. The colour is a bit coral but it leans towards pink at the same time. This is my second fave. The colour is actually remind me my Maybelline Watershine lipstick.
Surprisingly, the above pigmentation was achieved by only 2 applications.

Last one is Athens. Like you see, this one doesn't really appeal to medium skin girl me. This one too needs to work with some other colour so it can cover my pigmented lips. Colour wise, it's a bit pale for me. By the way, that's like 3 application and still seems sheer to me.

Verdict:

First thing first, the texture is a bit drying. But I just need to apply my EOS lip balm before using it.

Especially Athens, after only like an hour, my lips became dry a bit and I could totally see the cracks on my lips and it's not a pleasant view. I tried to solve the problem with adding a bit of my lip gloss buuuuuutttt NO. The colour doesn't mix like other lipsticks I have and I guess the only way is to apply lip balm as much as I need in order to use it.

But the scent is just great! Smells like vanilla to it! Love it way better than the Round Lipsticks!!

Final verdict: 3.5/5. I do love Stockholm but the other colours are struggling getting into my fave-lippies- list.

These are retailed at RM26 in Sephora last October but this month, I saw the price increased to RM29. I'm not sure why but maybe it has to do with RM dropping lately... But of course there are sellers online and for Malaysians, in Instagram. Just make sure what you're getting are the authentic ones.

So that's it! I do hope that this is the last post on lipsticks (though I literally just bought few new lipsticks the other day.....) this month.

Tell me if you've tried these lip creams before and your absolute fave and must-try colour!

So I guess I'll see you guys next post! Au revoir!
