Review | NYX Lip Smacking Fun Colors in Frappucino, Tea Rose and B52

Saturday 1 November 2014
Hello, lovelies! How's your weekend so far? Or, wait! How's last night Halloween party? I did a little shopping yesterday and dear God, staffs at Avenue K was wearing Halloween makeup and I was so surprised when he turned to face me! The makeup artists at Sephora went all out with their Halloween makeups as well!

Anyway, today I'm going to do my first lipstick review! I never done this before though so I'm just gonna go with what I know, okay! hehe

In the website, these lippies fall in the category under Extra Creamy Round Lipstick but on the case it's labeled as Lip Smacking Fun Colors so my guessing is maybe the brand has different name for other lipsticks under the same category.

Product Description: From the website.

NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick is our classic lipstick for all occasions. The mineral-based emollient formula offers a beautiful velvet texture, saturated color and it resists wear and smudging. It’s your go-to lipstick. From Pure Nude to Pink Lyric to Chic Red, Round Lipstick is available in a jaw-dropping variety of shades.

Made in Taiwan. Cruelty Free

Unlike my other lipsticks, these are only good within 12 months after opened.

Goes with the name, they come in round cases with the bottom part being transparent but coloured with the shade of the lipstick though in my case not really helping as they have about the similar shades of nude colours.

  • LSS632 Frappucino, deep toffee
  • LSS628 Tea Rosemuted plum with blue undertone
  • LSS565 B52, Soft Mauve Cream
Swatches:

From top to bottom: B52 Soft Mauve Cream, LSS628 Tea Rose, and LSS632 Frappucino

Left: Indoor lights. Right: Outdoor lights.

Above: With flash
Verdict:

Left: bare lips. Right: LSS565 Soft Mauve Cream. I really love this one, as it gives me that slightly dark pinkish colour that I want.

Left: LSS632 Frappucino. I love this colour so much as it gives me that pretty nude colour. I think the colour looks coral a bit. Right: LSS628 Tea Rose. This one gives me that sweet pink colour. But compared to the other two, this one's a bit sheer.

I love all the three colours and how they're so pigmented. The lasting power is quite good I have to say because they survive sandwiches during lunch times at least but they last about 5 to 6 hours without eating.

The texture is so smooth and just glides on my lips. One coat gives a nice coverage to my pigmented lips but as the lipstick's pigmentation is buildable, two coats give me the above swatches.

The scent isn't really pleasant to me though. Smells like some chemicals.

Honestly, these lippies do dry out my lips for a little bit though this never happened to me but I just had to glides on my EOS lip balms and all is good.

These lipsticks are retailed at affordable price of RM20 at Sephora Malaysia and merely USD4 at the website.

Final verdict: 4/5. I just wish the scent is nice like the Soft Matte Lip Cream ones from the brand. But still, gonna repurchase other colours! :D

So that's it! What do you think? Have you tried these? Have any suggestion on nude shades I should get?

Until next post, au revoir!
