Blogger Mail | Hermo X LANEIGE Cream Skin Refiner

Saturday, 27 April 2019

On Monday, I've received a package from Hermo Malaysia containing the above product from one of my favourite skincare brand under AmorePacific, LANEIGE Malaysia!

I already am using this lovely hydrating toner actually; you've seen my Instagram? For the past few weeks, I've been trying several different exfoliating toners to get rid of flaky dead skin cells and sometimes, even layering my regular hydrating toners won't help my daily moisturisers so that's where this toner comes in. It's working greatly so far but I'll be checking in with you guys after using the toner for about 4 weeks to really see how it performs and whether this product really deserve all that rave in social media.

I'll be posting the review on Beauty Memo by Hermo (updated! Read here!) by then so do stay tuned Have you tried this lovely hydrating toner? Let me know your thoughts below in the comment section. Until next post, annyeong~

Blogger Mail | Althea Skin Relief Calming Cream and Waterful Green Bamboo Pads

Saturday, 13 April 2019

Early this month, I've received another package from the Althea Land and this time they're launching products that are quite trendy these days; anti-pollution moisturiser that suits everyone even sensitive skin and soothing toner pads that's just filled with hydration and I'm obsessed with the gauze-type pad!

I've been incorporating both of these products in my daily morning and evening skincare routines and I just love how versatile and easy to apply they actually are like the rest of Althea Exclusives; skincare products released under un-house brand, Althea. Here's my first impression:-

I've been using the Waterful Green Bamboo Pads as the first step after my cleansing routine for the past couple weeks. I haven't had any soothing toner in my skincare stash because I usually go for hydrating and brightening toners instead; not until my skin started to dry out around my outer cheeks and chin area (entering my 30s sucks big time) and that's when I've started to look for gentle and soothing toner for my sensitive facial area. Then, bam! Althea dropped the toner pad; not only it soothes and hydrates my skin, it also helps in removing dead skin cells rather gently thanks to the gauze-type pads and the willow bark extracts as well.

I've been noticing that my skin doesn't react well with heavy makeup lately; lots of redness around my cheek area and of course, there's still some areas around my outer cheeks that's just flaky and sad! I usually treat these areas with soothing, Panthenol-containing sheet masks but lately I feel that's still a bit lacking in terms of result unlike before. I've been using the Skin Relief Calming Cream mostly in my night skincare routine for the past couple weeks; coupling  it with other moisturisers where I'd be applying the soothing cream on affected area with other moisturisers focusing on hydration (Hyaluronic Acid-containing) that are mostly light in texture on the rest of my facial area. Man, I'm fully aware that combination skin is tricky but it gets trickier with sensitive area.

So far, both products are appearing regularly on my #myraskincarediary on Instagram which means I've been using them a lot especially the soothing pad toners! I even take some of it and place them into a small case for me to carry in my office skincare kit for my midday routine because it's just so hot in Malaysia these days and even layering hydrating toners won't do.

I guess that's all for now! Do stay tuned for full reviews for both of these products upcoming soon in here in my blog. Have you tried any of Althea Exclusive? Tell me about it! By the way, if you're planning to sign up for Althea and place your first order for more than RM150, use my link (click here!) for 20% discount off your first purchase!

Blogger Mail | Wako Beauty X Skin1004 Malaysia

Saturday, 6 April 2019

A package arrived from Wako Beauty as they sent me the above Skin1004 Malaysia Zombie Pack & Activator Kit / Pore Tightening & Lifting Pack, a 4-pack Box to try and as it's Saturday, I’ve managed to do a first impression on InstaStory so here’s my mini review!

First off, a little bit info on the product; Zombie Pack is known for its ability to diagnose skin issue (lack of moisture and elasticity in the skin) AND provides skin tightening and replenish the hydration onto the skin.

Knowing that the product contains Albumin from egg whites so I’d be expecting some skin tightening with a little bit moisture thanks to Propolis extracts. There’s also Aloe Vera extracts so that should help with soothing and calming my skin with a little bit redness. The pack and activator were easy to mix and applied on skin by using the provided brush.

On the first use, my pores are clean and minimal in appearance. I’ve never seen my pores almost diminished like that. I'm quite impressed as I don’t feel my skin feeling dry or right after rinsing it off. Just smooth and soft to touch!

I'll update more on this after I've finished using them all - more like a month-program so do stay tuned for that!

Review | Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion

Tuesday, 2 April 2019

When my social media followers asked me on which product I have recently used to help restore my damaged skin barrier; an aftermath of several episodes of allergic reactions due to food poisoning or after trying new products that severely sensitised my skin, I would answer: AHA-based exfoliating toner coupled with Hyaluronic Acid-powered hydrating toners or as Japanese would refer as lotions. Of course, I had to wait for several days after the redness and irritation calmed down by Centella Asiatica and Panthenol-based serums or sheet masks but that's on another post.

Hada Labo Gokujyun (Hydrating) Lotion deeply hydrates as it contains different molecular sizes of Hyaluronic Acid that penetrate skin layers on different levels, helps in balancing the overall moisture balance and prepare my skin to absorb the rest of my skincare products but first thing first, let's go to some basic details about the product!

Product Description:

Formulated with Japan's upgraded formula and High Performance Penetrate & Deep Moisturising (HPP&M) Technology actively infuses 4 types of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) to fully hydrate skin from the surface to inner skin layer for significantly soft, smooth and supple skin; to prepare skin for enhanced absorption of skincare ingredients.
  • Large-size HA - forms a layer of moisture retaining barrier to effectively provide skin with a powerful moisture-locking shield to lock in moisture on skin.
  • Medium-size & Super HA - combine 2 types of HA with high water retention ability, to lock in and retain large volume of moisture inside the skin for super and long-lasting hydration.
  • Nano HA - with fine molecule size HA that easily penetrates and infuses moisture deep into skin to prepare skin for enhanced skincare ingredients absorption.

How to use: Use twice daily after cleansing face. Apply on palms and gently pat onto skin until thoroughly absorbed. Store in a cool, dry and away from direct sunlight.

Capacity: 170ml

Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, PPG-10 Methyl Glucose Ether, Disodium Succinate, Methylparaben, Sodium Hyaluronate (Medium-size HA), Hydroxyethylcellulose Succinic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate (large-size HA), Hydrolysed Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate.

Packaging:

As you can see on the above photos, the product comes in that transparent plastic bottle. There's English label sticker at the back covering the Japanese product description and unlike most Japanese beauty products that I have used in the past, there is a product expiry date printed at the bottom of the bottle! The format is MM YYYY (Month Year).

The product doesn't come with pump or anything; just a simple cap with no bottle neck hence huge opening so be careful not to spill the product. I'd suggest for you to decant into smaller bottle if you were to travel with this one.

APPLICATION

The product comes in a quite thick yet watery texture and quickly absorbed into skin. Once spread even, it leaves skin feeling well-hydrated and soft to touch.

THOUGHTS

I think I've mentioned this many times before but when it comes to exfoliating dead skin cells off my face, I'd prefer to use chemical exfoliators; at least for the past couple of years. However at this point, I only use Glycolic Acid (AHA)-containing exfoliating toner like 2 to 3 times a week depending my skin condition of the day. Even though the exfoliating toners contain merely 5% AHA at most, my skin can be sensitive at times so I have to add not only soothing toner or essence in order to reduce the redness and irritation but also hydrating toners, essences, serums even ampoules to compensate the moisture loss often caused by exfoliation. This is where this very product comes in as it's powered by Hyaluronic Acid that is known for its hydrating properties in different sizes that penetrate the skin layers on different levels together with Butylene Glycol and Glycerin i.e humectants that help drawing in moisture from the environment. It's important to know that whenever you're using humectant-containing skincare product, always have facial mists or humidifier with you especially when you're in dry condition otherwise the moisture in your skin is going to be sucked out instead.

This toner can be used as first step after cleansing routine or when in need; 3 to 4 drops on thin cotton pads and place on dry facial area as point masks to have a quick hydrating treats. I also love putting the toner in fridge these days as chilled toner is such a saviour in our current hot weather. As I actually have normal to oily skin, I do enjoyed the Light version of this toner too; sometimes layering it several times before applying my sunscreen of the day and I'm good to go!

You guys know that I don't really have a lot of Japanese beauty product but this product is indeed one of my favourite Japanese skincare product that I've indulged enough to put this on my forever-repurchase list. Do check out some other beauty bloggers' Must-Have Japanese Beauty Products by clicking here! I have to say that the list actually includes some of my other favourite Japanese beauty products too!

I guess that's all from me! Let me know what do you think by leaving comments down below and I'll see you guys on my next post! Jyaa ne~!

Beauty Empties 20.0 | March

Friday, 29 March 2019

Welcome to the first Empties post of 2019 and like I've mentioned many times before; no matter how little or many products I have finished within the quarter of the year, I'm just grateful and giving myself pats on the shoulder for finishing them. My goal is to post and Empties post every 3 months, not only to just clear out my bin but also to track my skincare stash by updating my spreadsheet - yes, I would prefer to keep it tight so I won't or less buying new products that I haven't tried twice. Beginning 2018, I no longer believe in buying 2 products thinking it is good and therefore I'll be needing a backup for it. I have set a rule to only repurchase a certain product after consideration and full or mini review of it except the products that are on my HG list where I'll be buying them whenever I have extra budget to invest. Enough ranting, let's get to some products that I've finished from January till this month!

For skincare, I only finished 3 cleansers and a sunscreen. I recently finished my first tub of that Heimish All Clean Balm and now I'm on my second one! I do love it as it works better than the first cleansing balm I ever tried which was from Banila Co. That THE FACE SHOP White Seed Exfoliating Cleansing Foam is good for my evening routine although my skin is feeling more on drier side for months now so I actually used like a quarter of it for my face while the rest as my body cleanser and I'm currently on my second tube now; (I know) it is just one of those times I'm regretting buying backups. The same goes to that A'PIEU Deep Clean Foam Cleanser. I'm pretty sure the pH is high so I need to use pH adjusting toner whenever I used this in my cleansing routine. Won't be repurchasing for sure.

I've finished a tube of that best-selling sunscreen from THE FACE SHOP; Natural Sun Eco Power Long Lasting Sun Cream and even though it performed quite well as a long-wearing tone-up sunscreen, I've decided not to repurchase at least until 2022 as I just bought the full-sized of the upgraded version of the best tone-up sunscreen I've tried; Dr.G Brightening Sun Up now with SPF50+. Thank you, next!

For body care, I have finished the Soap & Glory The Scrub of Your Life although not really to be honest as I've tried a better one from The Body Shop but as for the The Righteous Butter, I think it's great but I am always into trying new body lotions; that is just the reality of it and the only one that I have repurchased over and over again would be from L'Occitane.

That empty container is actually a finished coffee body scrub from a local brand, @thepinkdiamond.co and I'm currently on my second tub of it. Not that it's amazing or anything but I don't feel like spending over RM100 getting coffee scrub from Sephora. It works well at smoothing out the dead skin cells and I love the smell of coffee so.

I also finished another tube of perfumed hand cream from THE FACE SHOP and this time it's the Rose Water scented. It's just a typical lightweight hand cream that runs like water to me so I have recently switched to thicker hand cream from a German brand that I bought from Watsons.

I guess that's all of it! I hope I can finish more products by the end of next quarter so I'll be seeing you guys on the next Empties post. Annyeong~

2019 Spring Launches | Shu Uemura Unlimited Fluid Foundation

Monday, 18 March 2019

Shu Uemura Unlimited Fluid Foundation is a new liquid foundation with SPF24 and it comes in 24 shades. The foundation focuses on three things: shade range, lightweight texture and long wearing.

The formula is light and smooth, giving an even color to your complexion while feeling completely lightweight. All the shades have been selected to suit Asian women of all skin tones. This selection of shades is based on through the research of over 3000 women from all over Asia.

On SEPHORA Malaysia website, there are currently 12 shades available and I'm hoping for them to make full range available soon as I don't see my shade range in there, at least not yet.

I've made some inquiry at Imago Kota Kinabalu Boutique and the BA has informed that the shades available are only half of the full range too! I'm not sure which ones so I'll be heading down there to check it out myself. Also, I'd be picking up the new Blanc:Chroma Lightening and Polishing Cleansing Oil sample kit to see if it's better than my regular Anti/Oxi+ Skin Pollutant & Dullness Clarifying Cleansing Oil.

Have you tried anything from Shu Uemura? Let me know!

Review | AllYoung X Elle Clean Beauty Foaming Facial Cleanser and Moist Beauty Iris Water-Like Oil

Thursday, 14 March 2019

Last month, I've received another package from AllYoung Malaysia containing two products from Elle™ a brand used by AllYoung under license from Hachette Filipacchi Presse SA, France. I wasn't at all aware that Elle™ actually have a skincare division but being part of probably the largest magazine publishing business focusing on fashion, beauty, health and entertainment that just might be possible. Let me know if you have further information because the related websites are in Chinese so feel free to throw in some legit information.

Now, the first product that I want to get into is the face cleanser.

Elle Clean Beauty Foaming Facial Cleanser

Product Description:

The fine-textured foam contains 30% of Amino Acid ingredient which gently cleanses pores, moisturises and locks hydration within your skin. It will leave you with a radiant, smooth and glowing complexion.

Features:
  • Refreshing Oceanic fragrance
  • Chondrus Crispus Extract; rich in collagen which forms an invisible protective film on skin.
  • Add-in 30% Amino Acid ingredient; helps to remove dirt easily, lock in moisture and slow down the loss of water from the skin. Provides intense skin moisture for long-lasting hydration.

Ingredients list:
Aqua, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Propanediol, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, PEG-32, PEG-6, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Fragrance, Glycerin, Buddleja Davidii Extract, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Extract, Niacinamide, Calcium Pantothenate, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Pyridoxine HCL, Maltodextrin, Sodium Starch Octenylsuccinate, Silica, Panthenol, Hexylene Glycol, Fructose, Glucose, Sucrose, Urea, Dextrin, Alanine, Chondrus Crispus Extract, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Sodium Hyaluronate.

How to Use:
Apply sufficient amount of foaming cleanser onto hands with some water and work it till it lathers. Gently massage lather onto skin and leave it on skin for few minutes. Rinse thoroughly with water. For day and night use.

Capacity: 105g

Packaging:

The cleanser came in its own box with a very minimal design; white with simple product descriptions on it. Note that the Period After Opened is only 6 months.

There's ingredients list printed on the label at one of the sides and the manufacturing and expiration dates are printed at the bottom of the box.

The same goes to the tube that houses the product; white and simple product descriptions on it while at the back of the tube, there's instruction on how to use and expiration date printed on. Basically, you can just throw out or better yet, recycle the box right away because all the information you need is right on the tube.

Unlike most facial cleansers I've encountered so far, this comes with twist cap which is somewhat inconvenient to me as I'm used to regular flip caps.

Application:

This product is creamy but once lathered, it is less foamy compared to your regular cleanser and can be easily rinsed off. I usually squeeze out 1cm size of cleanser onto palm (or at the back of your hand like me), lather with water until you get a foamy consistency. Massage gently onto wet face and gently cleanse for 30 seconds. Wash it off with water thoroughly.

Thoughts:

As you probably noticed on my social media; Instagram, I've been using this cleanser regularly; alternating with my other gentle cleansers in the morning and I do love how less bubbly the foam is as it doesn't dry out my skin even after massaging my skin thoroughly. My skin also feeling nice and smooth afterwards.

Elle Moist Beauty Iris Water-Like Oil

Product Description:

Ingredients list:
Cyclopentasiloxane, Propylene Glycol Isostearate, Isododecane, Argan Oil, Squalane, Caprylyl Methicone, Caprylic / Capric Triglyceride, Alaria Esculenta Extract, Fragrance, Tocopheryl Acetate, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil, Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil, Palmitoyl Dipeptide-10, Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-12, Butylene Glycol, Iris Florentina Root Extract.

How to Use:

  • With makeup: Mix an ample amount of foundation, apply evenly on face and neck area and gently massage it for fast absorption and long-lasting perfect makeup.
  • Multi-purpose: Apply just a few amount on your lips to avoid cracked lips, apply on hair to protect split ends; massage your entire body with it for a relaxation and refreshing feeling. Minimum product, maximum results.

Capacity: 25ml

Packaging:

As you can see, the box is simply designed; I'd take it as the brand intends to focus more on the product itself, them being their ultimate acne solution skincare products. Do note that these products are to be used within 6 months after opening.

There's English product descriptions at the back and side of the boxes which are nice considering the brand is originating from Taiwan.

There's English product ingredients list at the back with the Expiration and Manufacturing dates printed at the bottom of the box.

The 25ml-worth of product comes in that cute transparent bottle with simple product description on the side of the bottle.

There's also Expiration date printed at the bottom of the bottle too so again, no need to worry about disposing the box. The dropper for the facial oil is actually quite nice as a single pinch of the dropper is sufficient for my whole facial area.

Application:

As you can see above, the face oil is quite lightweight and watery and once spread and massaged well into skin, the finish is actually nice as it's not too greasy or anything, more like nicely hydrated!

Thoughts:

I actually quite liking the face cleanser as it's been a long time since I last tried a cleanser that doesn't dry out my skin but looking the ingredient, I'm a bit disappointed as I have never seen preservatives being listed so far high-up in the list; I believe there's only a small amount of preservative needed and whatever listed after that aren't really effective or proven to be effective or going to take a long time to actually affect the skin condition. Guess I'm going to finish the cleanser to really see the result but I highly doubt I'd see any difference.

As for the face oil, it's nice as it's watery and quickly absorbed into skin but again, even though there's one of the highly-regarded flower mentioned right in the name, it's listed right at the end of the ingredients list so the product itself is not really convincing.

Update: I've tried the face oil by mixing it with a matte foundation and after several tries, I've decided to stick with mixing the face oil with the foundation rather than applying it prior foundation and use hydrating setting spray to finish off.

Thank you so much to allyoung Malaysia and Elle Skincare (Taiwan) for sending these products to me to try. I guess that's all from me. Do let me know your thoughts on these products and  I'll see you guys on my next post, annyeong~
