Beauty Empties 43.0 | September

Monday, 30 September 2024

I've got to admit that it's been more than 4 years since I last posted an Empties post but here I am, 20 quarters later with some of the products that I've personally finished for the past 3 months; you'd notice some other products that I've shared on my Instagram Stories but those are the products that I've been using together with my mum so those don't count here.

First, let's start with skincare and finally I'm back on track with my all-time favourite brand which is LANEIGE. I've started getting my mum to use their Perfect Renew skincare line for the past 5 years while I was enjoying their basic and Water Bank skincare line but it's time for me to also get on their anti-ageing line too - at 36 years old!

I've finished my first tub of that Perfect Renew Youth Regenerating Cream quite recently and instantly fell in love as it really helps in maintaining the hydration however little I have as I've been experiencing dehydration for quite some time with more and more hours spent in air-conditioned offices and cafes. I can't wait to repurchase the upgraded version of this moisturiser soonest!

That Clear C Advance Effector EX is the fourth generation of the original Clear C; a super berry infused booster and the last bottle that I've had in my stash. I've been having this product in my daily skincare routine for the past 10 years and I doubt I'm going to replace it with other products with similar claims. Again, I can't wait to repurchase the fifth version that's recently integrated into the brand's current brightening care line hence it has been renamed Radian-C Advance Effector.

For hair care, I've been really selective towards the products I use especially after I've bleached and dyed my hair but the above Ginger Shampoo and Conditioner from The Body Shop have been working wonderfully at keeping my scalp healthy and less dandruff. Absolutely will be repurchasing this combo.

As for hair treatments, I did loved both of these Cleansing Scalp Scrub and Hydrating Mask from Sephora Collection especially now that my scalp gets dry and flaky quite easily. I'll repurchase these for sure but at this point, I still have a lot to go through so maybe sometime next year? I'll keep you guys posted in a Haul post.

With my skin feels drier; not just my facial area, I've been reaching out to more and more moisturising body wash like that Almond Milk & Honey Soothing and Caring Shower Cream from The Body Shop with Guardian's own Antibacterial Shower Cream Ultra Moisture which contains almond and chamomile that give similar effects. Already repurchased both of these in newer packaging.

So that's all of my take for some of my emptied products from this Quarter. I'd sure hope I can finish more of my opened products in time for the last roundup next month; before the recycling programme at L'Occitane being paused for the holiday season.

Do you recycle your emptied skincare products? Or do you prefer refillable products? Let me know in the comment section.

Event | ARE YOU ‘THE FACE OF HEALTHY BEAUTY’? | 4 Finalists Selected at the Last Semi-Finals Held in Kota Kinabalu

Sunday, 7 July 2019

All 21 finalists posing on the stage.

Guardian Malaysia which is on a nationwide quest to find FOUR women, who best fit the bill as ‘The Face of Healthy Beauty’ held its last semi-final round in Kota Kinabalu today for the East Malaysia region.

After a hard-fought semi-finals where each of the 25 shortlisted semi-finalists had to go through challenges that display their aptitude and personality to deservedly earn the title ‘The Face of Healthy Beauty’, four finalists emerged to progress to the Grand Finals to be held in Kuala Lumpur on 27 July 2019.

The FOUR finalists from the East Malaysia region were (from left) Vanessa Yoong Foong Woon, Palvinder Kaur A/P Savinder Singh, Cruzellyn Alex and Elaine Audrey Lee.

Fitness instructor and fitness entrepreneur, Cruzellyn Alex, 42, was absolutely delighted to be picked as a finalist. A native of Kota Kinabalu, Cruzellyn was ecstatic and on top of the world about being picked.

She said she was attracted to the competition because of the emphasis on the word ‘healthy’ in the title of the contest. “I want to advocate a healthy lifestyle for everyone and that you can still live a healthy lifestyle without jeopardizing your own particular lifestyle. Many people think they live a healthy lifestyle but they don’t actually. So my objective for entering this competition is also so that my voice can be heard,” Cruzellyn said.

Meanwhile 28 year-old Pharmacist, Palvinder Kaur, didn’t expect to win at all and had entered the contest on the closing date for entries. She said the concept of the contest resonated with her as she practices a healthy lifestyle including doing daily workouts and being very particular about her food in addition to paying attention to her physical looks like taking care of her skin which she says must not be dry.

“This contest is really a reflection of my beliefs and I thought why not go for it and put yourself out there and try your best. Little did I know that I would be picked for the grand finals in Kuala Lumpur,” Palvinder said before taking a 7 hour bus ride from Kota Kinabalu back to Lahad Datu where she works in Hospital Lahad Datu.

More personal details on these first four finalists can be found on the contest microsite at https://theface.guardian.com.my.

At the launch of this nation-wide search in May this year, Soren Lauridsen, CEO, South East Asia, Guardian Health And Beauty Sdn Bhd said: “This search for The Face of Healthy Beauty is NOT a Beauty contest.

“In our books, the Healthy Beauty, is a person who lives life to the fullest in a healthy way, and has a distinctive style and pleasant personality. She is someone with a positive attitude, gives priority to being healthy first; and looks after her physical beauty too.”

Each winner will sign a one-year contract as Guardian Brand Ambassador that comes with RM10,000 cash, RM10,000 Guardian vouchers, and RM5,000 each for them to give to a charity organization of their choice. They will be featured on the Cover of Guardian’s Brand Catalogues and other collaterals and will receive products from participating sponsors

Soren explains that the Healthy Beauty concept is at the core of Guardian’s brand philosophy and that this concept was borne from a consumer insight that good health is the foundation of true beauty.

“We discovered that our customers believe that true beauty comes from a healthy physical and mental state of being,” Soren said.

By focusing on this consumer need since its very first store at The Weld 52 years ago, Guardian, has become the store to go to for health and beauty needs.

He said: “While these basic needs have remained, consumption trends have evolved driven by changing lifestyles and economic circumstances. Health and beauty are no longer as clearly defined as they used to be. They have been intertwined. Guardian too, has evolved. From being the health and beauty store, our mission now is to inspire our customers to live a healthy and beautiful life.”

“To achieve our mission, we have trained our team members to be beauty and health care advisors, while continuing to offer the latest and most innovative health and beauty products,” Soren added.

Touted as the first-of-its-kind in Malaysia, this search for ‘The Face of Healthy Beauty’ is open to all Malaysian females aged 18 years and above. Entries were submitted online at https://theface.guardian.com.my.

Participants needed to upload a 30 second video of themselves indicating ‘Why they want to be The Face of Healthy Beauty?’ or write in not more than 100 words why they want to be The Face of Healthy Beauty.

One hundred (100) shortlisted participants were selected to attend each semi-final to be held at Johor Bahru City Square, Gurney Plaza Penang, Central i-City Mall Shah Alam and 1Borneo Hypermall Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Four semi-finalists from each region will attend the Grand Finals in Shah Alam on 27 July 2019.

In addition to the four winners, there will be eight category winners to be awarded by sponsors. These are: Most Healthy (Blackmores), Most Elegant (Bio-essence), Most Youthful (Garnier), Most Expressive Eyes (L'Oréal), Most Passionate (Maybelline), Most Confident (Nivea), Most Cheerful (Safi) and Most Charming (TRESemmé)

Guardian customers can also vote, from 8 July – 24 July 2019 on the microsite, for their favourite finalist to win at the Grand Finals. The votes received for each finalist will contribute towards 50% of the total scores at the Grand Finals. Customers can earn more votes with purchases at Guardian. For one vote, no purchase is required; for 5 Votes, they need to purchase any item from Guardian and for 10 Votes, they need to purchase any participating sponsor brands in a single receipt.

If that particular contestant wins in the Grand Finals, then she will do a draw to pick her lucky voter. A total 4 draws will be done. Each Winner will pick 1 voter. The selected voter will be rewarded with RM500 worth of Guardian vouchers.

Furthermore, there is also a Scan & Win contest for customers from 10 June to 7 July 2019. QR codes will be placed in Guardian stores for customers to scan. After scanning the QR code, they just need to answer four questions related to healthy beauty. After answering, they will receive an instant voucher for their next purchase.

Health and beauty comes in all shapes and sizes; be confident of being who you are. these days I've been seeing plus size modelling here in Malaysia - what a perfect way and opportunity to share just how comfortable you are in your own skin. I guess that's all from me so I'll be seeing you guys on my next post! Take care!

Event | Guardian X NAELOFAR Unveils Exclusive Tote Bags for Ramadhan

Thursday, 2 May 2019
Assalammualaikum and how are you my lovelies! It's been awhile since I last started my post with a greeting and I'm just so excited to share with you guys out there about an event that I've attended earlier today and boy, it was so much fun as you guys might've aware that this is indeed the first event ever for me; attending as a blogger representing Myra Beauty Diary! Woot! Woot!

I was supposed to leave on Tuesday after having a long weekend of attending my first party for beauty blogger community, hanging out with my friends, having local Asian Beauty Community meetups and of course, spending quality times with my best friend and then on Monday, came in the email from Guardian Malaysia through their PR company; an invite to their exclusive launch event for the lovely tote bags for Ramadan, a collaboration between the drugstore brand and a famous celebrity, Neelofa! Even though I'm not huge on local entertainment scene but as a hijab fashion enthusiast myself, I'm very much familiar with her brand, Naelofar; one of the biggest hijab brand here in Malaysia.

Now, let's go to what went down earlier today!

Guardian X NAELOFAR Exclusive Summer Collection tote bags.

Guardian Malaysia unveiled today Nature Beauty, Red Blossoms and Floral Serenity tote bags - it has commissioned for its Exclusive Summer Collection for Ramadan. These tote bags were designed and inspired by talented actress, TV presenter, model and successful entrepreneur; Miss Neelofa, the owner of one of Malaysia's leading contemporary fashion brand; NAELOFAR.

So in the month of Ramadan, what better time to shop at Guardian and to carry your purchases home in a must-have tote bag designed by Neelofa herself.

According to Neelofa, these are her inspirations behind the three tote bags:
  • Red Blossoms | A vibrant colour of Iris flowers designed with golden rectangle geometry to lead the eye from one design element to the next. Exclusively designed to look bold and elegant.
  • Nature Beauty | Designed to go beyond the norm towards modernization. The use of clean, irregular shapes with tropical colours emphasize on the beauty effect of the design.
  • Flora Serenity | Flowers and butterflies symbolise grace and beauty, with a touch of vibrant colours to give more festive-like feelings. Designed exclusively for those who embrace elegance.

The Guardian Exclusive Summer Collection will be available from today until stocks last. "So please start collecting these three tote bags early as stocks are very limited," said Vai Chi.

Shall I reveal what I've got in the goodie bag?

So that's the very first event I ever attended as blogger from Myra Beauty Diary and it was fun indeed. The launch was at one of the nice restaurant in Suria KLCC, I've got to meet lots of other big social media influencers and it was lovely to meet writers from magazines like NONA, Jelita, Remaja; local beauty and fashion magazines here in Malaysia. I feel so excited and inspired at the same time as I've always wanted to attend this kind of event so here's to more exciting events in 2019! One last pic with Neelofa! I admit, I was nervous hence the shaky selfie. LOL!

I guess that's all from me so I'll be seeing you guys on my next post! Take care!
