Review | Etude House Zero Sebum Drying Powder

Thursday 19 May 2016

I've been obsessing with pore or sebum-focusing makeup items for the past few months and this product from Etude House is just one of many that I now have in my makeup collection.

I've done a review on its sister product, Zero Sebum All Day Matte Gel so do check it out! It's basically a simple gel-based primer that you apply at the first step of base makeup and it does help with controlling the shine from beaming through my foundation.

However, for today's review I'm going to just apply the powder with just my sunscreen on so you can see how fine and transparent it is but first let's talk about the basic things about it.

Product Description:

Made of mineral powder (80%) to dry oily and waxy sebum breakouts and below the surface efficiently.
  • Sebum control powder contained to remove unnecessary excess sebum efficiently.
  • 80% of Mineral Powder – soft, elastic, and in various shapes, contained to deliver clear and natural luminosity on face.
  • Wide micro superfine fiber puff helps powder applied clearly without smudge.
  • No talc, mineral oil, animal ingredient, artificial pigment, or artificial scent to care skin softly
  • 3-Step Sebum Control to deliver cushiony and non-greasy skin:
    • Sugar polymer from plankton removes excess sebum on skin clearly to keep skin cushiony and soft.
    • Cotton extract protect skin from the impact of stress from excess sebum and sebum breakouts.
    • Patent sebum control mix contained: fermented bean, willow, cinnamon, oregano, pine, portulaca oleracea, and gold to care sebum troubles.

I kind of lost that yellow paper that comes with the powder (probably somewhere in my room~) that contains the ingredients list but I've noticed that it's on CosDNA database so you guys can check it out here. Thanks to whoever uploaded that.

Packaging:

The powder comes in that round tub with similar design to its sister product. The colour is toned to pastel suggesting softness which is somewhat familiar in sebum-controlling makeup items.

There's a powder puffs that comes with it also in similar soft green colour.

There's a seal when I first opened the product. This is pretty common in powdered products.

There's simple label printed in Korean at the bottom of the tub and also there's expiring date.

Verdict:

Left: bare face with sebum-controlling transparent sunscreen. Right: I usually applied more powder than that and all over my face not just on my T-zone area. Having fun with dotting my face~ haha

The powder gives me a silky matte finish. It doesn't blur my pores or anything and just purely eliminates the shine off my face. The powder is finely milled so it does look like as if I didn't apply any powder.

My face stays matte for few hours in a good office and I had to re-apply just like any other powder pact that I have. I do like the citrusy scent though.

Overall, I do like this powder. It can somewhat replace my my HG translucent i.e. setting powder which is Innisfree No Sebum Powder though the latter makes my skin stay matte for longer hours than this one.

Final verdict: 4/5. I do notice that this product has already been upgraded and hence repackaged by the brand and I'm planning to get that next to compare between the two.

I got this powder from local Etude House store here in Malaysia and the price is around RM40+. I bet you can get cheaper online.

I think that's all from me. Let me know if you've tried other HD or translucent powder from Korean brand by leaving comments down below.

Until next post, annyeong~
